Her Excellency Aishath Shaan Shakir

Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to the Federal Republic of Germany

Ambassador Shaan is the Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to the Federal Republic of Germany, having presented her letter of credence to the President on 22 August 2022. In addition to Germany, Ambassador Shaan is also concurrently serving as the non-resident Ambassador of Maldives to Norway, Finland and the Russian Federation.

Ambassador Shaan began her Foreign Service career in 1984 and rose through the ranks, filling various positions both home and abroad. Most notably, she served as the Chief of Protocol – the first female Chief of Protocol of the Maldives – from November 2020 until her appointment as the Ambassador to Germany.

Throughout her extensive career, Ambassador Shaan has also served as the High Commissioner to the People's Republic of Bangladesh from December 2016 to October 2020 and as the Deputy High Commissioner to Malaysia from June 2011 to February 2014.
